SPEECH

I'm kinda bored because the dresses are bad this year and I'm not into many of the series or movies nominated... but the speeches tonight have been very good. No long list of names but funny, heartfelt statements and stories. Nice.

Yep you are right. The speeches have been fucking great, and just seeing the whole cast of "Desperate" rocked.

Kind of annoye about Cate's winning. She's fun as hell in Aviator but she belongs more to a comedy club than to a film.

Did you notice Giammatti's big ovation????

The academy just sucked this year...

I know it's very selfish of me... but is there any way you can post who has won thus far (movies and TV) ?! I'm Canadian and I don't get TNT so I'm missing out ! Do you know they'll be replayed at all again?? I assume at this point only Cate Blanchett has won for movies ... anyone else ?!?!

Morgan Freeman just won in Supporting Actor.
We do get TNT and we are a 3rd. World country!!!

go to www.oscarwatch.com for regular updates as to who is winning!

Jerry Orbach won for TV Drama Actor. I love Jerry, and it's sad he's no longer with us, but... it's pretty obvious what they've done.

Whichever hack announcer just said "this is Hilary Swank's second screen actor's guild award. Her first was for the female lead in Boys Don't Cry" should be fired. She lost to Annette Bening, who's probably a little confused and irked about that mistake.

hahah, did they really say that? omg, Annette must be furious. Now they're even giving Hilary Swank awards that she lost to 4 years ago.

But, statistically speaking, Hilary Swank has a lesser chance of winning now because isn't their Best Actress catagory really poor at predicting a winner. or is that ensemble. Or both...

What was Hilary Swank's speech? Nat said it was sort of smug. It's annoying that Australia don't get these sort of awards shows. Or, not on free-to-air anyway. And Cable isn't huge here yet because we get USA's cable shows (like Sex And the City, Sopranos, Queer as Folk, etc) on free-to-air.

...anyway, im getting off topic.

That "winner of 2 SAG award" thing is still hilarious slash insulting.

All I can say is: Thank god Million Dollar Baby didn't win Best Ensemble. Not because it's a bad movie (far from it) but as many people have said it's not an ensemble. 3 cast members who rarely share scenes together does not make an ensemble.

The Station Agent got away with it because the three interact with each other for the entire movie and each character was dependant on another (and even then, the "ensemble" included other cast members like Michelle Williams and Paul Benjamin and that Raven girl whose last name escapes me). Whereas in MDB it's mostly (like Closer) duet scenes between 2 cast members and occasionally the third cast members walks around in the back ground.

But as Nat has said before, why didn't they nominate anybody else from Million Dollar Baby? Such as the priest, Danger or the black boxer at the start? Hell even Hilary's mother!

Or would that deflect attention away from Hilary...?
